The bodies of three illegal immigrants were found under the boat with some 500 people ran aground early Sunday near the port of the Italian island of Lampedusa, sources said Monday the Italian coastguard.
Rescue teams recovered the bodies of three men about 25 years.
Most of the 500 people aboard the ship filled with refugees, many of them from Africa and Asia working in Libya, including 24 pregnant women and several children, were rescued unharmed by the Italian authorities.
The ship ran aground when it was close to the Italian port causing panic among the passengers, many of whom were thrown into the sea. The Coast Guard immediately intervened to recover the passengers were thrown into the water and to help those who remained on board.
Television footage showed dramatic scenes of refugees clinging to ropes to pull the rusty fishing boat to shore and some men who swam for help. On Sunday, another boat carrying about 800 immigrants had arrived in Lampedusa, the first port from things African.
